Q1-(a) Describe population and its types with suitable example. 5

(b) Explain frequency, Cumulative frequency, class Intervals, mid points and class width. 5

(c) Tabulate the following 30 scores into two frequency distributions using :  5
(i) an interval of three, and
(ii) an interval of five units. Let the first interval begin with score 60.

Q2- (a) Describe the requirements of a good measure of central tendency. 2

(b) The mean marks in statistics of group A is 100, N=150, and in group B is 105,N=130. What is the mean for group A and B combined? 6

(c) Describe uses of mean, median and mode.

(d) Find out the geometric mean of 9 and 4. 2


Q3- (a) Differentiate between absolute and relative measures of variability. Write the formula to calculate these. 5

(b) Discuss quartile deviation and mean deviation with their drawbacks. 4

(c) Calculate the quartile and mean deviation form the given data : 6

Find out the following sets :
(a) A intersection  B

(d) A intersection C complement
(b) A bag contains 5 red and 3 black and second one 4 red and 5 black balls. One of the bags is chosen at random and a draw of two balls is made from it. Find the chance that one is red and the other black. 7


Q5- (a) Define probability with example and also write the theorems of probability . 5

(b) In a single throw with two dice find the chances of throwing (i) eight, (kk) ten and (iii) twelve. 9

(c) Explain mutually exclusive events. 1



Q6- (a) Distinguish between defect and defective items with suitable example. 3

(b) How do you calculate control chart for a C- chart? Discuss the assumption and approximations involved in the calculation. 6

(c) What is control chart? Explain the basic principles underlying the control charts. Also discuss the role of control charts in the manufacturing processes. 6



Q7- Explain any three of the followings : 3*5=15
(a) Diagrammatical presentation and its advantages.

(b) Classification of data, its uses and basis.
(c) Harmonic mean and its uses. Also calculate the harmonic mean from the given data :
2,5,6,10,12 and 24.

(d) Define statistical control chart and its uses. Also describe specification limits and tolerance limits.
